Issue Position: Accessible and Affordable Healthcare: Protecting People, not Profits

Issue Position

For too long, Washington D.C. has used the healthcare debate to increase the profits of insurance companies on the back of working families across America. David, a cancer survivor, understands the challenges that face middle class Americans struggling with health issues, and knows that Congress can do better than line the pockets of insurance companies.

David knows that more must be done to control sky-rocketing healthcare costs, expand healthcare access to every American, ensure that small and local businesses are not hindered by burdensome regulations, and protect America's seniors and the Medicare benefits that they rely on. The Affordable Care Act has made some important progress in these goals, such as saving America's seniors over $1.5 billion on prescription costs in 2011 and providing needed health insurance to 411,000 uninsured Arizona children.

David knows that Congress must build upon theses successes, and not regress in our progress. Throughout his life of public service, David has stood up to the special interest lobbyists who put profits before people, and he will continue to stand up to them in Washington D.C.
